Stephen A. Smith has a couple of words for the Democratic Party after he started making some headway in the 2028 Presidential Polls. During a recent appearance on Hannity, the First Take host was asked about potentially running for president as a Democrat nominee.
Smith declared that he isn’t looking to run for president of the country and labeled politics as a “cesspool.” The talking head used the moment to shine a light on how “pathetic” the Democratic Party currently is that a sports pundit has a shot at the White House.
The New York native gave his opinion on who should be considered for the presidency ahead of him, citing democrats Josh Shapiro, Pennsylvania’s Governor, and Wes Moore, Maryland’s Governor. But after the kind words came damning remarks against other potential candidates, including U.S. representative for New York’s 14th congressional district Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and California Governor Gavin Newsom.
“The fact that I am a candidate for the presidency of the United States of America, according to the polling for the Democratic Party, is the most clear-cut evidence of how pathetic of a state of affairs that exists within the Democratic Party today,” Smith expressed. “I have no business being on that list whatsoever. I am not qualified. But it just shows how pathetic things are at this particular moment in time.”
Smith previously revealed that he “feels like a damn fool” for giving his vote to Democratic Party nominee Kamala Harris. During an appearance on Real Time with Bill Maher in January, Smith admitted to these feelings and insisted that she wouldn’t have been the candidate if she participated in the primaries.
“Yes, I voted for her, a lot of people voted for her, but in the end, we end up feeling like damn fools, because we supported it, we fell for the okiedoke as they say,” he expressed. “If you had a primary, the likelihood is she would not have been the Democratic nominee.”
“Kamala Harris, who didn’t resonate during the primaries in 2020, couldn’t even get to Iowa, suddenly is the Democratic nominee, then you roll up to the convention in Chicago and everybody is like, ‘She’s a rockstar!’ So it’s like, ‘How’d that happen?’” Smith added.
