Suge Knight has made yet another shocking revelation from behind bars—this time involving none other than the late Tupac Shakur.
Speaking with People, the former Death Row Records mogul claimed that Tupac’s remains were smoked by his closest friends and family members following the rapper’s death in 1996. Furthermore, Knight says he paid $1M in cash to have Shakur’s remains cremated immediately after his death.
“Tupac got smoked by his people,” Knight said via phone from California’s Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility, where he’s serving a 28-year sentence for a 2015 fatal hit-and-run incident.

The notorious mogul then doubled down on his claim, clarifying that his words weren’t metaphorical.
“I’m sayin’ literally. The night Pac died, the family, his mom, and everybody, they went and got his ashes, they rolled it, and they smoked him. That’s how much they loved him.”
Knight’s claim echoes a long-standing urban legend that has followed Tupac’s name since his tragic passing in Las Vegas at the age of 25.

Over the years, members of the late rapper’s inner circle—including Outlawz, the rap group he mentored—have made similar remarks, some confirming that they mixed Tupac’s ashes with marijuana and smoked them during a private memorial, while others have dismissed it as exaggerated lore.
Knight, who was in the car with Tupac the night he was fatally shot, has continued to speak out about the rapper’s legacy and final days from prison. His latest assertion, whether viewed as fact or myth, adds another layer to the ever-expanding saga surrounding Tupac’s life, death, and enduring cultural mystique.
