Forbes has officially released it’s Forbes Top 5 Richest Rappers In 2019 List which has one Suprise feature ! Kanye West! who earned more than Drake in earnings. See the full list below!
5. Drake- $150 million
Drake was boosted by holdings ranging from real estate to his Virginia Black whiskey, as well as a lucrative tour and new residency at the XS Nightclub in Las Vegas
4. Kanye West– $240 million
Kanye’s rise to the top 5 is largely credited to his Adidas deal which which is still entirely based on a predicated conservative estimate of that brand’s value.
3. Diddy- $740 million
The majority of Diddy’s wealth is drawn from his holdings, including cable network Revolt and clothing line Sean John (though Diddy has sold much of his stake in the latter, he retains a sizeable piece). But Ciroc, the main driver of his fortune, is growing again after case volumes fell from all-time highs in recent years
2. Dr. Dre- $800 million
Leaning on his highly publicized Apple’s $3 billion 2014 purchase of his Beats By Dr. Dre headphone line. The superproducer owned an estimated 20%-25% of the company at the time; of the $2.6 billion Apple paid upfront in cash, another $295 million was earmarked to cover debt payments, leaving Dre with a little over $500 million.
1. Jay-Z- $1 billion
Apart from investments in Tidal , liquor brands and many startups, Jay Z’s own sports agency, Roc Nation Sports, with a focus on the representations of various professional athletes has contracts worth over 900 million.
JAY-Z may be hip-hop’s first billionaire, but he may soon have some competition.
Forbes has revealed its annual list of hip-hop’s wealthiest rappers. JAY-Z leads thanks to his lucrative empire, which includes $310 million from his Armand de Brignac champagne, $220 million for cash and investments in companies like Uber, $100 million from D’Ussé cognac, and $100 million from TIDAL. He and wife Beyoncé are now worth a combined $1.4 billion.
Not far behind Mr. Carter is Dr. Dre with $800 million. Despite Apple’s $3 billion 2014 purchase of his Beats by Dr. Dre headphone line, he hasn’t quite reached billionaire territory. The super-producer owned an estimated 20-25 percent of the company at the time, and Dre pocketed a little over $500 million in the sale. Now that his formal involvement at Apple is seemingly coming to an end, Dre may need to find other investments to cross the billionaire threshold.
Sean “Diddy” Combs falls to No. 3 on the 2019 list. His $740 million fortune includes cable network Revolt, his Sean John clothing line, and Ciroc, the main driver of his wealth. Forbes declares him the “most likely candidate to join JAY-Z in the billion-dollar club.”
Kanye West makes his debut at No. 4. In addition to music sales and concerts, Ye’s $240 million fortune is largely attributed to his successful partnership with adidas, who lured him from Nike several years ago.
At 32, Drake is the youngest rapper to make the list with $150 million. His fortune grew 50 percent over 2018, fueled by real estate investments and his Virginia Black whiskey, as well as a lucrative tour and residency at XS Nightclub in Las Vegas.
“Every year, we just want to get more prepared and better at touring and better at things that make money,” Drizzy told Forbes in 2013. “That’s pretty much my objective every year, other than making good music.”
Forbes Richest Rappers of 2019
1. JAY-Z – $1 billion 2. Dr. Dre – $800 million 3. Diddy – $740 million 4. Kanye West – $240 million 5. Drake – $150 million
Much of Kanye West’s $240 million fortune comes from his work on Yeezy.
For several years, Drake and Kanye West have been playfully taking shots at one another. They started off as friends, respectfully recognizing the other as a pioneer in the hip-hop business model. Things turned sour though when their families got involved and now, Kanye alleges that he’s banned from speaking about Drake or his loved ones. When either of these two release new music, people will be looking out for any disses that could be directed at the other because at this point, everything is a competition between them. When it comes to finances, Kanye West has Drake cornered, surpassing him on the Forbes list by nearly $100 million in this year’s Richest Rappers series.

Each year, Forbes collects their data to determine who has the strongest net worth out of hip-hop’s businessmen and this year, one man stood worlds ahead of anybody else. Weeks after he was revealed to have become hip-hop’s first billionaire, Jay-Z is at the top of the list. Following him is Dr. Dre, whose headphone business ended up paying off supremely in the end. Diddy comes in the third spot but the competition between Kanye West and Drake maintains the 4 and 5 placements. As reported by Complex, Kanye West’s $240 million fortune was enough to earn him a spot in the Top 5 while Drake, the youngest member of the fivesome, clocked in a modest $150 million.
With the growth of OVO as a brand and more to come from Drizzy Drake, we can expect the mogul to continue moving up over the next few years. Kanye West is also striving with Diddy, Hov and Dre all working hard on securing their legacies for the last decade. Check out the full list here.
