DJ Khaled Brings Out Lil Wayne, Big Sean, Meek Mill, Lil Baby, SZA, & More On “SNL”

Listen, We The Best!

DJ Khaled graced the Saturday Night Live stage as the musical guest last night (May 18), and of course, he brought some friends along. While Khaled is a legend in his own right, SNL would not have been as exciting if he hopped on stage solo. Paul Rudd, better known as Ant-Man these days, hosted the show and introduced Khaled. The energetic DJ first brought out Lil Wayne and Big Sean to perform “Jealous.” The features didn’t stop there though.

Next, Khaled brought Jeremih, Meek Mill, Lil Baby, and J Balvin to the stage to perform “You Stay.” Khaled spent most of the performance yelling ad libs and sauntering around stage, which was a little awkward to watch at the least.

On his next trip to the stage, Khaled brought out SZA for the Outkast sampled “Just Us.” Khaled stirred up some controversy when he sampled Carlos Santana’s “Maria Maria,” and “Just Us” will undoubtedly rub some people the wrong way as well. Next up, Meek returned to the stage to drop his verse for “Weather the Storm” before John Legend stepped out to perform “Higher.” Legend sang his heart out while playing the piano as a neon Nipsey Hussle image glistened brightly in the background.

With the release of “Father Of Asahd,” Khaled is bringing the gang with him to the SNL studios.

DJ Khaled is fresh off of the release of his latest album, Father Of Asahd, his latest project with a star-studded roster. Khaled kept the roll out relatively low key in comparison to other projects. He released a few singles last year but in the days leading up the project, he was relatively quiet which, to be honest, seems quite out of character for his larger-than-life persona. With  Saturday Night Live‘s season finale tomorrow, NBC brought the DJ to close out another highly successful season and Khaled will definitely be bringing some friends along with him.

The star-studded tracklist of Khaled’s latest project is set to be reflected during his performance on Saturday Night Live tomorrow. The rapper revealed that he’ll be bringing along Lil Wayne, J Balvin, Meek Mill, SZA, John Legend, Big Sean, Jeremih, and Lil Baby for his set. This will mark both J Balvin and Lil Baby’s first times on Saturday Night Live. J Balvin will also be making history as the first Reggaeton artist to perform on the late-night variety show.

With DJ Khaled, and a slew of stars from hip-hop, set to perform, Paul Rudd will be serving as the host for the evening. The two served up a hilarious teaser with Khaled dishing out his iconic “Anotha one” adlib while Paul Rudd attempts to match DJ Khaled’s energy.

May 17, 2019 SZA Plays Sexy Gladiator In DJ Khaled’s “Just Us”

SZA Plays Sexy Gladiator In DJ Khaled’s “Just Us”

DJ Khaled and Sza battle it out together as gladiators in the video for “Just Us” from “Father Of Asahd” album.

This morning, DJ Khaled finally emerged from the shadows to release his awaited Father Of Asahd album, which comes complete with a carefully crafted video itinerary. The producer promises a slew of new visuals coming over the next couple of days, which started with the midnight release of the powerful Nipsey Hussle and John Legend collab “Higher.” Next on the course, is the video for the SZA-featuring “Just Us,”  which is directed by Joseph Kahn.

Khaled teased the SZA collab to come back in April on SZA’s Instagram, “I’ve waited for this man to scream over my voice for 15yrs,” SZA captioned the video. “HE DA BEST!”

Khaled explained his confidence surrounding his new album in a new interview with XXL, saying that he had warned radio early on that he had multiple hits in the bag. “So, I told radio, ‘Yo, I got seven singles. I’m just being honest. I got seven singles. I’ma let you know how the Khaled year is going to sound out of the gate. We can go with these two first and when they go No. 1, we can swap them out, boom. But I wanted you to know I got seven. And there’s nothing you can do about it,'” he said. “So, I’m preparing radio. I’m preparing everybody that there’s nothing you can do about it; it’s just going to be rockets.”

The video does indeed look like it’s going to be a major hit. The catchy beat and SZA’s powerful vocals provide a perfect canvas for a strong video, which the two certainly deliver. The plot of the story follows the pair as gladiator warriors (major 300 vibes), battling together and coming out triumphant, before celebrating in a ceremony atop golden elephants – with DJ Khaled’s trusty cigar in hand throughout.

SZA Thanks God For “Ctrl” Album’s 100 Week Billboard Success

We think it’s safe to say that SZA’s Ctrl album, or at least a handful of songs from the lovely tape, is still as loved today as the day the full project arrived on June 9th, 2017. Since the release, we’ve gotten gorgeous visuals for tracks like “Doves In The Wind,” “The Weekend” and “Supermodel.”

While SZA has played with the idea of having her next tape be her last, she may have to regroup on that idea considering a recent accomplishment. The “Drew Barrymore” singer shared an image on Instagram, detailing how her album has been sitting pretty on the Billboard 200 chart for an impressive 100 weeks now. “God forever working harder than satan. THANK YOU,” she captioned the news.

“My world got so much smaller so fast. I have so much to write about. I feel like I’m in a cage,” SZA previously stated about her career plans. “I’m making the best album of my life for this next album and I know that… because it’s going to be my last album.”

Sorry SZA, looks like that won’t be happening.
