Teyana Taylor is a certified fashion “it” girl, proving she’s got an incredible eye for style — yet again — for tonight’s Met Gala, where the theme is Tailored For You, based on the history and influence of Black dandyism.
The Harlem native did her neighborhood proud with her interpretation, wearing a red and grey suit combination reminiscent of the Harlem Renaissance that highlighted several aspects of dandyism, including pinstripes, fitted vests, bold accessories, and more. The Marc Jacobs design also featured a scribed print reading “Harlem Rose” just above the hem of her cape, referencing not only the blocks that raised her, but her 2018 song, “Rose In Harlem.” Taylor’s choice to rock a du-rag also feels inspired by uptown stomping grounds.
