That Mexican OT Defends His Right To Use The N-Word

Texas rapper That Mexican OT is facing growing scrutiny over his use of the N-word, and he’s not backing down.

In a recent interview with Lip Service, the rising artist was directly questioned about whether he believes it’s appropriate for him to use the word in his vocabulary, given its historical weight and the sensitivity around non-Black people adopting it.

OT’s response was unapologetic and confrontational. “I’m gonna tell you why … I wish there was some Black dudes in here,” he said, before pointing out a Black man present at the interview. “OK, we’re gonna use him. What the f**k are you gonna do about it?”

While his tone sparked further backlash online, OT made it clear he feels his upbringing justifies his language.

“And then second of all, I grew up loving these motherf**kers. I grew up fighting with them. I grew up eating with them. I grew up f**kin’ doing bad sh*t with them,” he said, emphasizing his deep connection with the Black community. “Even if I wasn’t related to nobody that was Black, I mean, sh*t, it’s what the f**k I was surrounded by.”

OT doubled down on the idea that no one has the authority to check him over his word choice. “But if you’re from where I’m from, or anywhere, what the f**k are you gonna do about it?” he challenged.

“I went to the jungle and earned the lion’s head. And now I’ll dominate anywhere … You will respect me the same way I respect you.”

The Bay City native also dismissed the threat of being “canceled,” citing his loyal following as proof of his staying power.

“I don’t think I can get canceled. I can’t get canceled because I didn’t sell my music; I sold me,” OT stated. “These people know who the f**k I am, and they love me, and they appreciate me. That’s why I can go f**kin’ jump off a bridge and eat a bowl of sh*t, and they’re gonna f**kin’ love it.”

He concluded with confidence: “Even if you don’t agree with what the f**k I’m saying, there’s a whole world that is behind me.”

As That Mexican OT continues to climb the ranks in hip-hop, his defiant stance raises complex questions about cultural lines, street credibility, and who gets to claim a space in the ever-evolving language of rap. Whether admired or condemned, OT is making it clear—he’s not changing for anyone.
