The Mangaung Open is here

The world is coming to Bloemfontein for the Mangaung Open. The international golf tournament is starting as soon as next month! Local authorities are licking their lips at the economic promise of it all.

According to the exciting reports, the event will be worth no less than $250,000, that is of course R3,7m in local money.

The tournament will be delivered by the Sunshine Tour and Challenge Tour. So where exactly will the action take place in the City of Roses?

The Mangaung Open will be played at the Schoeman Park Golf Club and Bloemfontein Golf Club. The dates will be from 3-6 March.

The Executive Mayor of the Mangaung Metropolitan, Mxolisi Siyonzan, confirmed that the event will be a wonderful advertisement for the Free State province town.

“We are extremely excited to bring an event of international magnitude to Bloemfontein, which will provide not only much-needed economic stimulus to our local economy, but also international exposure in terms of what our city and this magnificent region of South Africa has to offer tourists,” Siyonzana said as quoted by IOL.

Thomas Abt, Commissioner of the Sunshine Tour, added: “The Sunshine Tour has a long and proud history of working with our major cities and municipalities and using an international golf tournament to help them achieve their economic and tourism objectives.

“We’re delighted to now be able to add the Mangaung Metro to our schedule through the Mangaung Open.”
