2025 had a tragic start with the Los Angeles wildfires that have burned down homes and businesses, forcing people to quickly find shelter elsewhere and an entire NFL playoff game to change locations. The Weeknd has pushed back his forthcoming album Hurry Up Tomorrow and canceled his upcoming Rose Bowl show due to the unfortunate times in LA County.

The 34-year-old artist shared a statement on X revealing the postponement and cancellation. “Out of respect and concern for the people of Los Angeles County, the Rose Bowl show has been cancelled and the album date has been postponed to 01.31.2025,” he wrote. His album was originally supposed to come out on Jan. 24 and his Rose Bowl show was set for the following day.

“This city has always been a profound source of inspiration for me, and my thoughts are with everyone impacted during this difficult time,” Abel Tesfaye added. “My focus remains on supporting the recovery of these communities and aiding its incredible people as they rebuild. With Love, Abel.” Read below.

The Weeknd made a tough decision much like the Los Angeles Rams this past weekend. They played their Wild Card matchup against the Minnesota Vikings at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., on Monday evening (Jan. 13). The Rams won the game 27-9, holding the Vikings to one touchdown and a failed two-point conversion in the third quarter after commanding a 24-3 lead at halftime.

The Weeknd fans will be happy to know that they won’t have to wait that much longer for his new album, which he built anticipation for with three singles: “Dancing In The Flames,” “Timeless” with Playboi Carti, and “São Paolo” featuring Anitta. Hurry Up Tomorrow will close a three-year gap since his last album, January 2022’s Dawn FM.

The 16-track LP featured Tyler, The Creator and Lil Wayne plus narration from Jim Carrey and Quincy Jones. It debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, being narrowly beat out by Gunna’s DS4EVER which came out on the same day. Hurry Up Tomorrow, according to Weeknd, will close off his second trilogy that began with 2020’s After Hours and Dawn FM. Check out the “Timeless” music video below.
