The Weeknd has issued a trailer for his upcoming film, Hurry Up Tomorrow.

The trailer hit the internet on Tuesday (Feb. 4), revealing that Trey Edward Shults serves as director on the project starring Jenna Ortega, Barry Keoghan, and Abel Tesfaye as leads. Much like Abel’s musical trilogy, which concluded with the LP, Hurry Up Tomorrow, the teaser shows off an eerie, unsettling world where nothing appears to be what it seems.

Fans are met with scenes of The Weeknd as an altered version of himself as the singer attempts to come to terms with his time as an entertainer. Keoghan appears in the trailer as a close friend or confidant to Tesfaye, who eggs on his life as a star, telling him that “he’s invincible.” Meanwhile, Ortega’s character seems hellbent on destroying this pop star persona, with clips showing her attempting to burn Abel alive.

As per the official description for the movie, HUT follows, “a musician plagued by insomnia [who] is pulled into an odyssey with a stranger who begins to unravel the very core of his existence.” In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Shultz further detailed Hurry Up Tomorrow as a look into “an artist, you could say, on the verge of a mental breakdown…He meets this woman, and they go on this odyssey together. It’s a mix of psychological thriller and drama. I honestly feel like I’ve never seen a movie quite like it.”

The Lionsgate film features Shults, Tesfaye, and Reza Fahim as co-writers for the project. Kevin Turen, Harrison Kreiss, Tesfaye, and Fahim serve as producers, and Ortega and Shultz are linked as executive producers.

Hurry Up Tomorrow releases in theaters on May 16, 2025.
