Top Dawg Entertainment Counsel Responds To Sexual Misconduct Lawsuit

Legal representatives for Top Dawg Entertainment have responded to the sexual misconduct lawsuit in which two women are suing the label for $48 million.

Newsweek reported that Marty Singer, legal counsel for TDE, said in a statement: “This is a clear example of a shakedown lawsuit by [redacted] who made a demand of $48 million through their attorneys on fabricated claims, and whose attorneys are looking for their 10 minutes of fame.”

Singer noted, “There are text messages and communications that totally refute these baseless claims. Additionally, [the women] were never employees of Top Dawg Entertainment. We are confident that we will prevail in this action.”

The women, who identified as Jane Does in the lawsuit, alleged “several of TDE’s executives and employees committed sexual harassment, assault and breach of contract against them.” They claimed that TDE management turned “a blind eye” when making them aware of said allegations. The lawsuit described the label of perpetuating a “pervasive culture of sexual harassment within TDE, implicating some of its highest-ranking executives.” Chief Marketing Officer Brandon Tiffith, TDE’s president Anthony “Moosa” Tiffith Jr., and TDE CEO Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith were all named as defendants.

One woman allegedly began working at TDE in 2019 and accused Brandon Tiffith of approaching her with unwanted sexual advances and sexual battery. She claimed the label didn’t honor her contract to pay her for her professional services. The second plaintiff cited several alleged instances of sexual harassment and assault by “TDE employees while on TDE property and under their control.” She also detailed an incident where she was coerced into” consuming alcohol while underage for the purpose of sexual exploitation.”

They opted to remain anonymous out of “concern” for being “put into the spotlight.” Their attorney said the lawsuit “presents a glaring example of the systemic abuse and exploitation in the entertainment industry.”

TDE executive Terrence “Punch” Henderson was asked on Twitter if he was going to respond to the allegations. To which he replied, “To a cat?” The line of inquiry came after he tweeted, “Grammys. Super Bowl. Tour,” referring to Kendrick Lamar’s historic wins and upcoming performances despite the rapper not being currently signed to TDE.
