Travis Scott Solicits HBCU Band For “4X4” Coachella Performance

Travis Scott is preparing for his Coachella 2025 performance and is looking for talent to join him on stage. Taking to X on Tuesday (Feb. 4), the Houston rapper put out the call for an HBCU band who can take on the horn arrangement of his latest chart-topper “4X4.”

“Any hbcu or really any college with a band. Big or small. That stand to take on that horn arrangement from 4×4,” detailed the 33-year-old. “I’m down to bring u with me to Coachella to do it with me. And posssibly figuring out a way to take care a semester cause college is hard. But music is fun. :)). Show me something.”

The Grammy-nominated artist is set to return to the Coachella stage after his 2017 debut. According to Rolling Stone, he will perform a special guest slot during the annual event. His arrival comes after his headlining performance was canceled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic and a 2022 removal of Scott from the lineup following the deadly tragedy at his Astroworld festival the previous year.

According to Billboard, beyond performing, Travis Scott will work with Coachella organizers to redesign the festival grounds with a Cactus Jack touch.

“4X4” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart earlier this week, making the party-ready track his fifth time topping the ranking. He debuted the song while performing at the College Football Playoff National Championship halftime show in Atlanta last month. In total, “4X4” counted 16.2 million official streams, 2.9 million radio airplay audience impressions, and 167,000 sold (digital and physical singles combined) in the United States from Jan. 24-30.

Per Billboard, all proceeds from the song’s CD single, among other offerings will benefit Direct Relief’s California Wildfire Response Fund.
