Ty Hunter is officially returning to his post styling one of the world’s biggest superstars and his dear friend, Beyoncé.
Tina Knowles, Beyoncé’s mother, welcomed her “bonus son” back into the fold with an Instagram post announcing the news on April 14. “So happy to have my bonus son @tytryone working with us on the tour after all of these years. We added him to the team a month ago!” she revealed. Mama Tina went on to recognize Bey’s current styling squad — responsible for the mesmerizing costumes of her Renaissance tour — before detailing the immense preparation underway to execute Bey’s upcoming Cowboy Carter tour successfully.
“Head Stylist @shionat [Shiona Turini] and @karenlangleystylist [Karen Langley] have been working for 6 months on this tour,” she revealed. “The clothes are crazy good!!!!!!!! Our designers, technical director, Tim White Thanks to all of the Dancer’s Stylist ! Tailors and , wardrobe staff! I don’t think people realize how much goes into a huge tour like this, we have to do thousands of costumes. It takes a village.”

Hunter began styling Destiny’s Child after meeting Tina at Houston’s Galleria, with his first assignment being their 2001 music video “Survivor.” He went on to work with the group, and later Beyoncé as a solo artist, full-time until 2014, though he continued to style particular events for Bey, including several Met Galas, for years after.

In his book Makeover from Within: Lessons in Hardship, Acceptance and Self-Discovery, Hunter spoke of leaving the “dream job” of being Bey’s stylist, sharing that the demanding schedule found him sacrificing too much of his personal life, including watching his daughter grow up.
“My daughter had just turned 21. I’m 50. And when my daughter turned 21, the next day, I just realized all the things that I missed. I missed birthdays. I missed, you know, celebrations, funerals and things like that with family. So, it was just a time of just really stepping out on faith,” he told The Grio. “And even though I had the dream job that everybody wanted, I also wanted to just do other things. And, you know, I was of age and I put in so much time. So, I just stepped out on faith, and I’m glad I did because I learned so much more about myself.”
