Tyla is set to make history as the first African host of the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. The 38th annual ceremony will air live on June 21, 2025, at 8 p.m. ET/PT from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, and will be broadcast across Nickelodeon and its affiliated networks .
Tyla’s appointment as host simply highlights her global influence in the entertainment industry, with her recent feature on the upcoming Smurfs: The Movie soundtrack with artists like Rihanna being her latest feat. In addition to her hosting duties, she has been nominated in the ‘Favourite Global Music Star’ category, representing Africa.
The 2025 Kids’ Choice Awards will feature 35 categories, with voting open to fans online. Leading the nominations are Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, and Kendrick Lamar, each with four nods.
Reflecting on last year’s event, the 2024 Kids’ Choice Awards were hosted by virtual characters SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the beloved animated series. The ceremony saw Taylor Swift winning three awards, including Favourite Female Artist, while the film “Barbie” took home four awards, including Favourite Movie.
With Tyla at the helm, the 2025 Kids’ Choice Awards promise an exciting blend of music, entertainment, and fan engagement.
