UNIZIK breaks silence on female student’s expulsion over lecturer assault

The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) has officially spoken out regarding the expulsion of Precious Mbakwe, a female student involved in a physical altercation with a lecturer.

UNIZIK recently made headlines after a viral video surfaced, capturing the moment Precious physically confronted a male lecturer who reportedly interrupted her while recording a dance video.

In an earlier statement, the university announced Precious’ expulsion. However, in a follow-up statement, the institution provided further details on the disciplinary process that led to the decision.

According to the university, both the assaulted lecturer and Precious were granted a fair hearing by the Students’ Disciplinary Committee, which was tasked with investigating the incident.

Following a thorough review, the committee found Precious guilty of gross misconduct and a violation of the institution’s disciplinary regulations.

As a result, she was expelled with immediate effect and instructed to return all university property in her possession.
