Recently announced as Apple Music’s Isgubhu cover star for November, Vanco is the house DJ and producer you need to know about.
He’s shared the stage with Black Coffee, Bob Sinclar, Black Motion, DJ Shimza and many more, pushing a dance-floor-ready sound that takes influence from a global palette of genres, classic house and Afrobeat among his biggest inspirations.
His latest offering comes in the form of Motherland – a luscious EP awash with sultry vocals, indulging melodies and top-level production. Lead single “Breaking Away” is a house track through and through, exemplifying the genre at its best, while soulful undertones of amapiano emerge through an intricate web of rhythm and synth.
“Omunye” (feat. Njabuloseh) subtly hinges on traditional African melody lines and powerful vocal delivery before “Slide” turns up the heat, coming as a slow-burning, sweat-inducing dance track of the grooviest proportions.

West-African rhythms return on eclectic closer “Forever” (feat. H_art the Band), making for a diverse offering by one of SA’s most exciting up-and-coming producers.
As the title suggests, Motherland is in some way an ode to the musical traditions of Vanko’s home, reimagined with a contemporary sensitivity that begs to be appreciated.
