The scam, which involved online fraudsters impersonating Hollywood star Brad Pitt, has captivated international attention and sparked outrage over the audacity and cruelty of the perpetrators.
Anne, who believed she was in a romantic relationship with the 61-year-old actor, recounted how the scammers exploited her vulnerability with an intricate web of lies. They reportedly used AI-generated images and elaborate stories, including claims that Brad Pitt was in dire need of kidney cancer surgery and that his accounts had been frozen by his ex-wife, Angelina Jolie.
Fueled by emotional manipulation, Anne transferred her savings to what she believed was an account to aid the ailing actor, only to later discover the heartbreaking truth.
