Wendy Williams Fires Court-Appointed Lawyer In Guardianship Battle

Wendy Williams is fighting to end her guardianship and her recent order of business included firing her court-appointed attorney, Linda Redlisky, on Wednesday (Jan. 29).

TMZ reported that the 60-year-old former talk show/radio host fired Redlisky after she allegedly failed to file paperwork related to a trial regarding whether or not Williams’ guardianship was necessary — after Williams asked her to do so.

An update shared on Wednesday from Williams and her niece Alex Finnie’s GoFundMe campaign read, “It’s time to stand up!!! Enough is enough!!!! It’s time to push back against this flawed system.”

As of Jan. 21, the campaign — which is almost at 90% of its $50,000 goal — confirmed that Williams secured new legal representation from the law firm of Schwartz Sladkus Reich Greenberg Atlas LLP (SSRGA) to “represent Alex Finnie to petition the court to address all issues pertaining to Wendy Williams’ guardianship. Lead attorneys are Jason Atlas and Brett Nussbaum! A 20k retainer will be submitted from the GOFUNDME.”

Per the fundraising website, donations will be used for “retaining experienced legal counsel specialized in guardianship,” “covering the costs associated with filing necessary legal documents and motions to challenge the guardianship,” and “engaging medical and psychological experts to provide testimony and evaluations that support Wendy’s case for independence.”

The GoFundMe was launched after Williams’ explosive albeit emotional interview on The Breakfast Club.

She described the New York City wellness facility she’s living in as a “luxury prison” and expressed, “My life is f**ked up. I feel like I’m in prison. I’m definitely isolated. I keep the door closed, I watch TV, listen to the radio and look out the window. Sit here as my life goes by.”

She also claimed that she wasn’t “cognitively impaired,” despite her “care team” saying she was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia in 2023. “This is what is called emotional abuse,” Williams added.

In addition to the legal help, she currently is trying to make it to Florida to celebrate her father’s 94th birthday.
