Why I can never sign another artiste to record label – Tiwa Savage [VIDEO]

Notable Nigerian singer Tiwatope Savage has opened up about why she does not see herself signing any upcoming artiste for a record deal.

Speaking on what it takes to mould new acts, the Water and Garri crooner revealed the exertion and unending responsibility of managing musicians.

In a recent interview with Forbes Africa, Tiwa Savage explained that she does not believe she has the “gift” to mentor and oversee other artistes under her label. She said:

“Everyone always says to me, ‘When are you going to sign an artiste?’ I don’t think I have the gift to sign another artiste, because artistes are stressful. I could just be sleeping, and then I will wake up and my artiste is trending for something else.”

The 45 year old singer and mother of one added that she would rather create opportunities in a different way.

Citing the establishment of a music school where aspiring musicians can hone their skills before being signed by record labels that can fully support their careers. Tiwa Savage added:

“But I do have the gift to help, which is why I am trying to do the music school, where you can go and later sign to a label that can actually help you.”

Tiwa Savage established the 323 Entertainment record label with her former manager and husband Tunji “Tee Billz” Balogun.

The label operates under the umbrella of Mavin Records and is primarily used to manage her individual career activities.
