Ghanaian-American music star, Amaarae, is not just particular about her beats, she has shared how fiercely particular she is about her cleanliness, too.
The “Sad Girls Love Money” hitmaker recently opened up in an interview with popular media personality Madame Joyce, revealing just how deep her hygiene rules runs. She also disclosed why she stopped eating at other people’s houses completely.
According to Amaarae, one horrifying kitchen mishap changed everything. She recalled:
“I went to a barbecue, I saw the owner of the house washing lettuce in their bathroom sink,”
“That was when I said, I will never eat at anybody’s house. And thank God that he let me see that thing, because I was waiting for the burger.”
Amaarae went further to list several pet peeves that she finds “disgusting,” particularly when it comes to people who don’t separate bedroom and bathroom routines. She continued:
“I don’t like mixing bathroom and bedroom things. If you’re brushing your teeth, stay in the bathroom, don’t come into the bedroom. Some people walk around while brushing. I think that’s disgusting.”

And on cross-contaminating cleaning tools and trash etiquettes, Amaarae said:
“Don’t use the same sponge for plates and wine glasses. It’s so bush. Use separate sponges because if you don’t, your glasses are going to smell like food.”
“If you’re done eating, throw the toothpick in the kitchen trash. Don’t bring it upstairs and throw it in the bedroom or bathroom trash. I find that disgusting.”
