Young Thug continues to make fans question his relationship with Gunna. This week, he made a very specific suggestion to rappers who snitch.
“If u a rapper and u a rat, u gotta just go gospel twin,” he wrote on X on Monday (July 7). This is the latest of multiple tweets he has made about rats, snitches, and all other monikers for those who tell the authorities about illegal activities. It also follows some very specific lyrics on his April single “Money On Money” with Future.
“Brother, you a rat,” he rapped in his first verse. “Twin, you a rat, you smoked,” Hendrix added in his verse. Of course, no specific names are mentioned in these lines, but given all that has happened in the last few years, it is easy to think they wee referring to Wunna. However, it just makes the events of October 2024 and the ensuing months even more confusing.
When Thugger entered his guilty plea during the YSL RICO trial and was freed, he specifically asked for the ability to speak to and work with his YSL mentee. It was exciting news, as no one had any clue where they stood, especially after the “Fukumean” artist was left off of King Slime’s June 2023 album Business Is Business.
Even further, Lil Baby and Lil Durk, both of whom have been close collaborators of Thug, publicly denounced Gunna for his Alford plea in December 2022, which got him out of having to attend trial and, more importantly, freed from jail.
Last month, Thugger performed at Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash festival, and he delivered his Gunna-assisted record “Ski.” Under normal circumstances, he can be heard rapping “Bi**h got a backwood on her nightstand she must be f**kin’ with Gunna,” but in this performance, the Atlanta artist’s name was muted in the backing track, and Thug did not rap it out loud, either. Thus continues one of the most confusing situations in recent Hip-Hop history, as neither rapper outright states whether they are on good terms or not.
