Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Tems has officially launched The Leading Vibe Initiative, a platform dedicated to empowering young women interested in the music industry, starting with a two-day program in Lagos this August.
Slated for August 8 and 9, the inaugural edition will gather 15 to 20 selected participants for a hands-on crash course into the world of music — from songwriting and production workshops to industry panels, meet-and-greets with music execs, studio sessions, and mentorship opportunities. Participants will also walk away with resources like production software and more, courtesy of Native Instruments — a tech partner on the project.
Tems, who is fresh off her second Grammy win and a historic run on global charts, is steering this ship as both artist and entrepreneur. Her mission? To make sure women across Africa aren’t left to figure it all out on their own. “Too many brilliant women have been left to figure it out alone,” says her manager, Donawon. “The Leading Vibe Initiative exists to change that.”
Tems herself shared the announcement via social media, encouraging women in Nigeria to apply before the July 13 deadline via leadingvibe.com.
This is only the beginning. The Lagos launch is set to expand into other African cities in the near future, opening doors, building bridges, and amplifying the next generation of women shaping the sound of the continent.
