After Kendrick Lamar dominated the last 12 months with his strategic rap beef performance, The Pop Out, a full Grammy night sweep, and a historic Super Bowl Halftime performance, there was only one thing left to check off on his list: a tour. The Compton native kicked off his worldwide Grand National Tour on Saturday (April 19) in Minneapolis, MN, with co-headliner SZA by his side, and the duo delivered a meticulously curated sequence of their collaborations, solo staples, and fan-favorites.
USA Today reports the show was divided into seven different acts. The first section kicked off with current bass-bumping GNX hits like “wacced out murals” and “squabble up” before sliding the clock back a few years with “King Kunta” and “ELEMENT.” SZA smoothly joined him for their newest duet “30 For 30” before she took over with her seminal records like “Love Galore” and “The Weekend.”

The next two chapters saw the former Top Dawg Entertainment cohorts trading the spotlight, with Act 2 focusing on K. Dot’s irreplaceable catalogue of mainstream smashes and Act 3 shining the light on SZA’s relatively deeper cuts. By Act 4, they came back together for “Doves in the Wind,” “All the Stars,” and “LOVE.”
After Lamar saved highly anticipated tracks like “Money Trees” and “Poetic Justice” for Act 5, the New Jersey-raised songstress followed suit by gifting fans with renditions of her SOS heavy hitters like “Kill Bill,” “Snooze,” and “Good Days” for Act 6. It’s worth noting that she also performed “Rich Baby Daddy,” which she was featured on but raised eyebrows because it’s a Drake standout from For All The Dogs.

To round out the career-spanning setlist, Act 7 put a ribbon on the show with — you guessed it — “Not Like Us” finally making its debut. The two artists closed out with a performance of “luther” and “gloria.”
