  • Iyabo Ojo, a fearless advocate for change and a vocal supporter of the Labour Party during the historic 2023 general election, sat down for a captivating conversation with Lagos State governorship candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour.
  • Their chat delved into the heart of Lagos politics, touching on the lingering echoes of Rhodes-Vivour’s bold attempt to unseat Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and whether the fire of his political ambition still burns brightly enough for another run.

Iyabo Ojo, celebrated Nollywood actress and commanding host of Gold Room, didn’t shy away from the tough questions as she sat with Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party’s gubernatorial candidate in Lagos from the 2023 elections.

With precision, she demanded clarity on his political future and whether he would dare to challenge the status quo again.

Rhodes-Vivour responded with unshakable determination, affirmed his intention to contest the 2027 Lagos governorship election. He expressed his vision to end the recurring silence that engulfs opposition parties post-election, vowing to keep the Labour Party’s voice at the forefront of political discourse.

His words;

“By God’s grace (I will run for governorship again in 2027). We are working. We gained a lot of traction, saw our mistakes. We saw the loopholes we made, and we’re working on that,

“I think the biggest mistake that has happened in Lagos politics is after elections, the opposition goes quiet. That is not happening this time.

“We’re in people’s faces. We’re doing our best in terms of health outreaches. We have a micro health insurance plan that we’re taking all across the state where people can get treatment of up to N6,000 for free.

“And just being up-to-date to current affairs and holding the government accountable, calling out when the government is spending our monies in extravagant ways, regardless of the suffering that Nigerians are dealing with.”

As the discussion deepened, Rhodes-Vivour turned his focus to the current administration.

He called out Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, demanding accountability and transparency while scrutinizing the direction of the state.
