Ayra Starr wins “Best International Act” at the 2025 MOBO Awards

Nigerian Afrobeats star, Ayra Starr, has been awarded the prestigious “Best International Act” at the 2025 MOBO Awards.  She triumphed over a competitive field of nominees, including fellow Nigerian artist Asake, as well as international stars Kendrick Lamar, Glorilla, Nicki Minaj, Tems, and Tyla. The award ceremony took place on February 18, 2025, at the Utilita Arena in Newcastle, England.

This win marks a significant achievement for Ayra Starr and her status in the global music scene.  She joins Wizkid (2017, 2021) and Burna Boy (2020, 2023) as the only Nigerian artists to have won the MOBO Award for Best International Act, placing her among the leading figures in Nigerian music export.

Ayra Starr’s victory comes on the heels of a successful year, marked by the release of her sophomore album, “The Year I Turned 21,” her opening for Coldplay’s world tour, and performances at major international festivals like Glastonbury.
