The red carpet at the Mufasa: The Lion King premiere in Los Angeles glittered with star power and fashion choices worthy of double-takes. Hollywood’s elite gathered to watch Disney’s latest masterpiece on Monday evening (Dec. 9) at the Dolby Theatre.
The event welcomed a slew of celebrities, including JAY-Z, Blue Ivy Carter, Tina Knowles, and Beyoncé, who reprises her role as Nala in 2019 remake of The Lion King. Other guests in attendance included Chlöe Bailey, Jordyn and Jodie Woods, Loren Lott, Zuri Hall, Caroline Chikezie, Royalty Brown, Olivier Rousteing, Keith David, and more.
Bey’s voice will be returning in the prequel/sequel along with Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, and John Kani. Mufasa also sees a new wave of talent including Aaron Pierre, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Tiffany Boone, Mads Mikkelsen, Thandiwe Newton, Lennie James, Anika Noni Rose and excitingly, The Carter’s eldest daughter, Blue Ivy Carter—debuting as lioness cub, Kiara.
Directed by Barry Jenkins, who also dazzled on the red carpet, Mufasa expands the beloved Lion King universe with a blend of backstory and continuation of the iconic tale.
