Boosie Badazz, Kodak Black To Attend BHM Celebration At White House

Donald Trump is hosting a Black History Month celebration at The White House today (Feb. 20) and he has an interesting cast of attendees from the Black entertainment space. Boosie Badazz, Kodak Black, and Rod Wave will all be present for the reception, per AP.

The trio of rappers will be joined by television anchor Sage Steele, legendary NFL player Herschel Walker, Martin Luther King’s niece Alveda King, and select politicians who have been supportive of Trump. The event is set to be streamed on CNBC’s YouTube channel starting at 3 p.m. ET.

The timing of this event is interesting given the fact his Defense Department declared “identity months dead,” meaning work hours would no longer be impacted by Black History Month, Women’s History Month, or National Disability Employment Awareness Month. It is even more confusing because, on that same day, the controversial President signed a National Black History Month proclamation calling for “public officials, educators, librarians, and all the people of the United States to observe this month with appropriate programs, ceremonies, and activities.”

An official told AP that government agencies have the freedom and discretion to continue recognizing Black History Month, despite the Defense Department’s declaration. CJ Pearson, a national co-chair of the Republican National Committee’s youth advisory council, defended the elimination of DEI and the non-recognition of Black History Month.

“Black History is American history. And similar to the story of our nation, it is a story of strength, resilience, and dogged perseverance,” he said. “Anti-DEI policies aren’t promoting racism but what they are doing is manifesting the dream of the great Martin Luther King, Jr.: a nation where one isn’t judged by the color of their skin but instead by the content of their character.”

Boosie Badazz and Kodak Black standing by Donald Trump despite his controversial decisions is no surprise. The Baton Rouge, La. rapper begged the President to dismiss his gun charge last month, writing, “Trump CHECK MY CASE OUT MY CASE WAS DISMISSED BUT BIDENS DOJ RECHARGED ME WITH THE SAME GUN CHARGE BIDEN PARDON HIS SON OF” on X. “I WAS TOLD I AM THE ONLY PERSON IN THE COUNTRY FACING THAT CHARGE NOW. PRESIDENT TRUMP, I ALREADY WAS GIVEN A 10 YEAR SENTENCE N STATE N 2009 FOR 3 rd offense MARIJUANA ( grams ,grams, grams ) I NEVER WAS EVEN OFFERED REHAB STRAIGHT TO PRISON.”

As for Kodak Black, Trump pardoned him back in 2021 for his firearm charge. The Pompano Beach, Fla. rapper has been a staunch supporter of the convict even when he made controversial statements about Haitians last fall. “Man, I ain’t gonna lie, homie, I’m a motherf**king Trump supporter,” he stated in September 2024.
