Chris Brown, SZA, Lucky Daye Win In R&B Categories At 2025 Grammys

Ahead of the 67th Grammy Awards premiering tonight (Feb. 2) at 8 P.M., a slew of celebrities have already scored wins. In celebration of R&B excellence, Chris Brown, SZA, Lucky Daye and more have secured early trophies in major categories.

Chris Brown, known for his unwavering musical success and longevity in the industry, added another Grammy to his collection with a win in the Best R&B Album category. His latest project, 11:11, won Best R&B album, beating out Lalah Hathaway (Vantablack), Muni Long (Revenge), Lucky Daye (Algorithm) and Usher (Coming Home).

SZA, whose sophomore album SOS dominated the charts and airwaves, took home the award for Best R&B Song (“Saturn”) over Kehlani’s “After Hours,” Tems’ “Burning,” Coco Jones’ “Here We Go (Uh Oh)” and “Ruined Me” by Muni Long.

Meanwhile, Lucky Daye, the rising R&B star, won Best R&B Performance for his soul-stirring song “That’s You”—beating out Marsha Ambrosius (“Wet”), Kenyon Dixon (“Can I Have This Groove”), Lalah Hathaway Featuring Michael McDonald (“No Lie”) and Muni Long (“Make Me Forget”).

Elsewhere, seasoned musician Avery Sunshine (“So Glad To Know You”) tied with duo NxWorries (Anderson .Paak and Knxwledge) (“Why Lawd?”) for Best Progressive R&B Album. The category also included Durand Bernarr (“En Route”), Childish Gambino (“Bando Stone and the New World”) and Kehlani’s “Crash.”

Closing out the R&B categories, Muni Long won Best R&B Performance for “Made For Me (Live on BET),” beating out Jhené Aiko (“Guidance”), Chris Brown (“Residuals”), Coco Jones (“Here We Go”) and SZA’s “Saturn.”

With these early wins, the excitement for the 67th Grammy Awards will continue to build throughout the night.
