Kendrick Lamar has enjoyed one of the biggest years of his musical career thus far, as the rap star’s seismic smash, “Not Like Us,” and his new studio album, GNX, have kept the Compton native atop the charts.

The success has been accompanied by an increased amount of fandom for Lamar, as various entertainers and celebrities have voiced their respect and admiration for his music and approach to his craft.

One figure who has expressed their desire to collaborate with Kendrick in the future is singer Courtney Love, wife of late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, and founder of legendary grunge group, Hole.

In an interview with The Standard, Love spoke glowingly of Lamar, revealing that she’s quite fond of the rapper, creatively and otherwise.

“I would love to work with Kendrick Lamar; I have a mad crush on him,” the guitarist, now 60, said of the 37-year-old.

Elsewhere in the conversation, Love expressed her affinity for Hip-Hop, namedropping her “home guys” Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and Ice Cube as artists she’s open to working alongside in the future.

Other acts listed among Love’s faves included hitmakers such as Doja Cat and Stormzy.

Considered among the most influential singers in alternative music, Love emerged on the musical scene during the late ’80s and early ’90s. Releasing four albums with Hole, as well as her lone solo album, America’s Sweetheart, in 2004, Love is reportedly gearing up to release her first full-length body of work in two decades.

In addition to her role as a icon and trailblazer among female performers, she is also known for her relationship with Cobain, who passed away in 1994 after committing suicide. Ironically, Kendrick Lamar previously namedropped Love’s late husband in 2009, rapping, “Give me vanity/ Give me Kurt Cobain sanity” on the song, “Is It Love,” from his Kendrick Lamar EP.
