In a heartfelt post, the Pretoria-based rapper marvelled at the passage of time, exclaiming, “Damn .. where does time go?” as he celebrated the milestone with a virtual balloon emoji and a shoutout to his loyal listeners.

Released on March 17, 2023, under Revenge Club Records—a label co-founded with his brother and collaborator A-Reece—the six-track EP quickly carved out a space in the hearts of hip-hop enthusiasts. Featuring heavyweights like Loatinover Pounds, AV, and A-Reece, Revenge Is Sweet blends razor-sharp lyricism with infectious beats, delivering a sonic experience that’s as introspective as it is triumphant.

From the opening track “What’s the West That Could Happen” to the soul-stirring closer, the project showcases Jay Jody’s evolution as an artist unafraid to bare his soul. “Thank you for listening,” Jay Jody wrote, extending gratitude to fans who’ve kept the EP in rotation. “And if you’re still playing some music from this offering even now … Kao Frostana!”

The anniversary celebration wasn’t just a solo affair. Jay Jody turned the spotlight on his fans, asking, “What is your favourite joint from R.I.S?” The question ignited a lively debate across X, with responses ranging from the gritty, motivational vibes of “Revenge” to the smooth, familial energy of “Free,” featuring A-Reece.

Reflecting on the EP’s legacy, it’s clear Revenge Is Sweet was more than just a moment—it was a movement. Clocking in at a lean 19 minutes, the project wastes no time, delivering punchy verses and polished production (mixed and mastered by Tkay 10 Staxx) that still feels fresh in 2025. Its themes of perseverance, self-reliance, and sweet retribution struck a chord, earning it praise as a standout in Jay Jody’s discography following 2022’s Sunset Stories: A Mixtape.
