After nearly a decade away from the mic, Joe Budden may be eyeing a return to rap.
On a recent episode of The Joe Budden Podcast, the former Slaughterhouse MC revealed that he’s seriously considering jumping back into music, driven by a recent wave of inspiration and support from his musical peers.
“I want to rap,” Budden admitted midway through the episode, revealing his desire stemmed from a recent verse and social media message from former collaborator Ransom. “I do, I ain’t gon’ lie.” The New Jersey rep insists he’s ready and willing to record new material, but needs production to rhyme over.

“The only thing stopping me is I don’t have the beat packs and I don’t request them. But if I ever ask Alchemist or Chad West or one of these ni**as I love… Jake One,” Budden said, listing off producers.
“I just start hitting up ni**as that I love, that I know got something, it’s gonna make me do something.”
Budden didn’t stop there—he also floated the idea of reconnecting with longtime collaborators and lyrical heavyweights for a potential project. “I’ll call Ransom, Royce, 38 Spesh, all them ni**gas,” he said. “We back!”

Best known in recent years as a podcast host and media personality, Budden had previously downplayed the idea of returning to the studio. But on the latest episode, he hinted that he’s in a rare creative headspace—one that could lead to his most personal project yet.
“I feel like now, I’m almost to the point where I can do a passion project,” he said. “I’ve never in my life been in a place where I could do a passion project. What does that even look like or sound like?”
Joe Budden’s last album, Rage & The Machine, dropped in 2016. Whether he fully commits to a comeback remains to be seen, but fans of his raw, introspective bars may have something to look forward to.
