Kanye West Calls Drake’s UMG Lawsuit The “Biggest Victory In Music”

In March 2025, Ye publicly declared he “loves Drake,” only to wind up dissing the Toronto rapper in a song the following month. The Graduation creator’s stance changes by the day, but most recently, he’s back on “Team Drake” as he praised him for suing at Universal Music Group, calling the lawsuit the “biggest victory in music.”

In a new rant circulating social media, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West expressed how elated he is to witness Drizzy going at the music industry giant. “I’m so happy right now, you don’t understand with this UMG, Drake, Kendrick situation, Super Bowl, Grammys,” West said in the clip. “This sh*t was driving me, and you know where it should be driving me, but this is the biggest victory in music history, right here.”

The “Stronger” artist then pledged to never slander the 6 God again and even tried to get his foe to join the fight, adding, “I’m never finna call Drake out of his name. I’m Team Drake, 100 precent. And Team Kendrick, and team all of as. Like Kendrick needs to be going at UMG at this point.”

According to Ye, this sentiment is not new as he rapped about it in a previous song of his. “This is what I said in my version of ‘Like That.’ I said, ‘Lucian, your life time deal.’ Like, let’s stop aiming all this at each other. You have no idea. Everything is worth everything for a moment like this, where we stop going at each other and we go at the slave masters,” he went on.

Drake’s legal battle with his label intensified this week as his team issued a statement claiming he has “nothing to hide.” In an amended complaint filed earlier this week, the Canadian rapper’s attorneys said Kendrick’s Grammys success and Super Bowl performance further damaged his reputation and were “orchestrated to assassinate” his character.

Universal Music Group responded by saying Drake’s team is misleading him to believe he can win “this frivolous and reckless lawsuit.” The “Hotline Bling” rapper’s legal team fired back by calling out UMG leadership, saying, “Drake welcomes discovery and has nothing to hide. It’s not Drake who should worry; it’s UMG’s current leadership. We look forward to hearing from Lucian Grainge, John Janick, and UMG employees under oath.”
