Lil Yachty regrets inserting himself in one particular rap beef. Speaking with Shannon Sharpe on the Club Shay Shay podcast, the 27-year-old explained why he wishes he never chose sides in the feud between New York rappers Cardi B and Nicki Minaj.

“I respect both of these women, aside from their differences,” began the “One Night” performer. “I think they are both very talented women in the industry who have rightfully earned their way to the top. I hated that I even answered that question because I kind of just inserted myself in something that had nothing to do with me.”

He continued to detail how he’ll love Nicki “from a distance” confirming he has seen her in person and was “scared” to approach her for a conversation. “In person… you think she look a way online, in person, just glows like a lava lamp. She short and she’s so beautiful.”

Lil Yachty continued to share some names of women who he thinks are killing it right now, with props to GloRilla, Sexyy Red, Doechii, K3, Molly Santana, BKThaRuler, Ice Spice, Tierra Whack, and DreamDoll, acknowledging all the women “killing it” and being “so sick.”

“I respect them, I love them all.”

In 2018, Yachty first publicly pledged his loyalty to the “Bodak Yellow” rapper. According to The Fader, he declared that he would not be able to collaborate with Minaj due to the relationship with both Cardi B and her now estranged husband rapper Offset.

The comment resulted in the Queen rapper blocking Lil Yachty on social media. In 2023 speaking with hairstylist Arrogant Tae, Lil Yachty pleaded, “You know what’s crazy? I’m actually a huge Nicki Minaj fan. I think she’s great. And I’ma take a second in time, to again, for maybe the third time, address Nicki. I would love for you to unblock me because I am a genuine fan,” adding an apology. Arrogant Tae claimed he would attempt to vouch for the Atlanta rapper.

Speaking to Shannon Sharpe, he acknowledges that the block is still in place and clarified that he has not asked Drake to get him on Minaj’s good side.
