A lawyer affiliated with Sean “Diddy” Combs is faced with backlash from a judge after making commentary regarding the high-profile case against the mogul on a podcast.

According to the New York Post, Mark Geragos, who represents Combs’ mother Janice Combs on an unrelated legal matter, was called out by Judge Arun Subramanian on Tuesday (May 6) for calling the prosecution team against Diddy “a six-pack of white women.” The remarks were made on a podcast featuring Geragos and TMZ’s Harvey Levin.

“This is ridiculous,” remarked Judge Subramanian. “I think referring to the prosecution in this case as a six-pack of white women is outrageous.” He added, “This would not be tolerated in any court from any lawyer anywhere across the nation.”

In response, Geragos claimed to have frequent contact with the disgraced Grammy-winner and relayed the 55-year-old’s alleged belief that race factored into his downfall.

“I think when you’ve got a Black man who’s being prosecuted and the client feels like he’s being targeted, it’s a — it’s an observation,” responded Geragos, per The Post. As the outlet confirmed, Combs’ legal team has decided not to argue that he was “targeted” due to race, or bring up prominent white celebrities who have hired sex workers and not faced prosecution.

Although Geragos is not representing Diddy, Judge Subramanian assured that he would continue listening to the podcast to monitor commentary on the litigation.

According to TMZ, Diddy has added another lawyer to aid in his defense. The tabloid reported that Nicole Westmoreland joined the growing legal team earlier this week. She is set to work alongside Xavier Robert Donaldson, and his leading trial lawyers Marc Agnifilo and Teny Geragos, who is the daughter of Mark Geragos.

Earlier this year, Anthony Ricco abruptly removed himself from the case.

“Although I have provided Sean Combs with the high level of legal representation expected by the court, under no circumstances can I continue to effectively serve as counsel for Sean Combs. There are sufficient reasons (related to the protections afforded by the attorney/client privilege) for brevity in my application for withdrawal as counsel in this case,” asserted Ricco in his decision.

Jury selection in the Harlem native’s sex trafficking and racketeering criminal trial began on Monday (May 5). In the process, prospective jurors were questioned about their knowledge of celebrities, including Ye, Yung Miami, Kid Cudi, Mike Myers, and Michael B. Jordan.

The Bad Boy Records founder has rejected all plea deals and is prepared to stand trial and testify in his own defense. Diddy is officially faced with five felony counts of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution, and could be sentenced to life in prison if convicted.

Combs has remained behind bars without bond since his September 2024 arrest.
