The multi-talented artist, known for her vibrant fusion of music and cultural identity, explained that her decision to retire from music is rooted in her desire to move on after addressing everything she set out to express through her work.

“It’s true that this is going to be my last album,” Sho Madjozi confirmed. “The main reason is that I feel like I have said everything I needed to say through music. I’ve said a lot about culture, about language, about hair, about being able to be a woman without necessarily being hypersexualized. Those are all points I wanted to make, and I think I made them very well.”

Over the years, Sho Madjozi has used her platform to challenge societal norms and celebrate African culture, empowering listeners with her bold messages. From advocating for the celebration of indigenous languages to championing the beauty of natural hair, her music has resonated with fans across the globe.

However, while Sho Madjozi is bidding farewell to music, she isn’t stepping away from storytelling entirely. The star revealed that her next project will be a documentary, for which she has secured funding from National Geographic. “The next project I’m going to make is a documentary,” she said. “I will be making a documentary, and from there, I’m interested in exploring more of the things I studied and other interests of mine.”

This shift towards filmmaking represents a new chapter for the artist, who has long been passionate about exploring and documenting stories beyond the music realm. As she embarks on this exciting new journey, Sho Madjozi‘s fans can look forward to a deeper dive into the subjects and causes that have inspired her throughout her career.

As her music career comes to a close, Sho Madjozi’s legacy is firmly secured, having paved the way for other artists to celebrate their roots, challenge stereotypes, and express themselves authentically. While her final album will be bittersweet for her dedicated fanbase, her documentary promises to offer a fresh perspective on the world through her unique lens.
