SZA has stepped up in defense of Megan Thee Stallion as Tory Lanez claims new evidence will prove his innocence in the rapper’s 2020 shooting, despite being convicted for the crime.

In the comment section of a video uploaded by Georgia criminal defense attorney @theluncheonlawyer, the SOS performer reacted to the alleged theory that Lanez, legal name Daystar Peterson, was not the triggerman in the violent event. In the clip, @theluncheonlawyer explained that the press conference held by Peterson’s legal team and social media statements are not relevant without presenting the claims in the courtroom.

“The density !!!!! I’m actually SO shocked at the amount of ppl fully comfortable bullying a woman that’s proven to be a victim of assault,” declared SZA. “Like out loud where other ppl can see you ?? Lmao u finna be stupid OUTLOUD ?”

Earlier this month, Peterson’s Unite The People team claimed that the Canadian singer took the fall for Megan Thee Stallion’s ex-bestie, Kelsey Harris. Artists including Drake and Chris Brown have called for Peterson’s release, with some even sharing a petition to make it happen. Florida Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna has even called on California Governor Gavin Newsom to issue a pardon for the musician.

“At what point are y’all gonna stop making me have to relive being shot BY TORY?” exclaimed the Houston rapper in response to those rallying for Peterson’s freedom.

“At what point are Tory and y’all fans gonna stop lying? Like how much is the check to keep harassing me? Why is this happening EVERY DAY? One minute him/y’all said I was never shot — now y’all letting him play in y’all face again and say I was shot but it wasn’t him? Oh okay…?!”

Peterson was found guilty of assault with a semiautomatic handgun, carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence in December 2022. He was then sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Earlier this year, the Grammy winner was granted a five-year civil restraining order against Peterson that prohibits him from any form of harassment or contact with Megan.

“I’m scared that when he gets out of jail, he’s going to still be upset with me,” shared Megan Thee Stallion with the judge at the time. “I feel like maybe he’ll shoot me again, and maybe this time I won’t make it.” Fighting back tears, she added, “I haven’t been at peace since I was shot. I’m just tired of being harassed.”
